Herzegovina is our second region, and its guide starts at Blagaj, just outside Mostar. Limestone cliffs run for about two and a half kilometres above the village, close to the Buna spring and the historic Blagaj Tekke. You’ll find technical slabs, vertical walls and steep routes on tufas and pockets. The cliffs face different ways, so there’s usually somewhere in good condition for much of the year.
Some sectors close every year from 1 April to 1 August to protect nesting birds. Check the region’s news before you go for current closures and access updates, and respect them without exceptions.
Blagaj is a village where people live. Park where you won’t block residents or the road, take all your rubbish home (cigarette butts and tape included) and keep the noise down. Then stay for a coffee in the village.
